Snippet #8 Peer Pressure Or What?

Me: Say Amma… Ammm..mmmaa.. say say?

Baby D: (after fixing his eyes into the deepest corners of my inner mouth, utters) Aah..nga! Anghaa!!

Me: Almost there. Say Amma..

Baby D: (with a giggling face) Anghaaaa!!

Me: No, honey. Amma!!! Say Amma!!!! I raise my voice.

Baby D frantically moves a bit away from me and utters Anghaa again out of compulsion.

Having witnessed a disapproving look on my face, he repeats his word Anghaaa, this time with a ray of hope to receive an applause from me.

Me: You are one year old. You gotta say Amma now. I’m sure every old year old would have said Amma by this time. You say Thaatha, Vaava but not Amma. Why? Amma. Amma. Please say, Amma. I tell (yell) again.

Baby D: (with a graceful look on his face squeals..) Anghaaa… Anghaaaa!!

Me: *gives a bone-touching hug*

Never mind, kid. Just be you.

If Bae, Bruh and Duh has sought the fame,

Your Anghaa will find its way too!

It’s just 12:00 PM in India and kid has already taught me a life lesson for today.

    1. Yeah, how did I even do that? It came as a shock to me as well. Fortunately, I realised the mistake the moment I committed it and resolved not to do it again in any phase of my parenting journey, no matter how hard it gets. That’s the message here!!!!!!!!!!!

  1. Raising a child was, without exception, the most frightening, challenging, deflating, and frustrating thing I have ever attempted. It was nothing less than physically draining and mentally exhausting, and it made life pass as if it was on speed dial.

And I would do it again in a heartbeat, for when life is due to close its doors for me there are but two things I can say that I genuinely cherish – my wife and my child. What else of true value is there?

I offer, in the dreaded โ€œunsolicited adviceโ€, is; cherish each and every second of your time with your child(ren). Youโ€™ll wake up in one morning in the very near future and theyโ€™ll be grown, married, and pursuing a life of their own and it will seem like it was less than a week ago that they appeared in their little bundle of joyous misery ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Wow, That’s a whole bunch of words your baby keeps on its repository. God bless! And do let me know when the word ‘mom’ finally falls out of the mouth. I’ll be waiting to hear from you! ๐Ÿ™‚
